24/11: Casa di Cabral Conversa: “The People Are Our Mountains”
Live podcast about the political praxis of Cabral and the power of culture
Join us on November 24th for an exciting event that dives deep into Cabral's inspiring political ideas and practices! He famously declared, "The people are our mountains," highlighting their role as the ultimate power behind the independence movement, especially when weren't any geographical strongholds. This powerful sentiment underscores how crucial popular support, solidarity, and unity are for resilience and success against colonial and imperial forces.
We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Aleida Borges, a Visiting Lecturer at the African Leadership Centre at King’s College, London, UK. She'll spark a lively conversation about Cabral’s insights on neocolonialism, international solidarity, and the pivotal role of women in the movement. In the second half of the event, we'll immerse ourselves in Cabral’s vision of culture's significance in liberation movements. In the second part of the event we will explore Cabral’s ideas about the importance of culture in liberation movements by listening to some records together with Rotterdam based Cape Verdean artist and actor Adison and DJ MF Andrade.
