10/6: Reclaiming Narratives: Archiving Our Lived Experiences
What disappears when no one writes it down? What is lost when only official institutions decide what gets preserved? Archives are never neutral. They show what counts, what is visible, and what gets forgotten.
This programme does things differently. We explore how diaspora communities can preserve and keep alive their own history, on their own terms. Saffa Khalil opens the evening with a lecture on oral traditions as counter-archives. What do voices, songs and stories preserve that paper never can?
Echoes of In*dependence: Archiving the Present
Artist moreiya takes us into the world of zines as a form of resistance and memory. The workshop grows out of her installation Echoes of Resistance, about the women of Afro-Lusophone liberation movements who are so often forgotten. We make something together. Materials are provided.
The evening is part of the exhibition Echoes of In*dependence. Spots are limited — don't wait too long.
