Historical Qur'anThis Quran is believed to be the oldest Quran of South Africa.
It dates back to 1700-1749. Hendrik Swellengrebel gifted it to the city of Utrecht. Swellengrebel was born in the Cape in 1700 and became governor of the Cape Colony, after which he and his family settled in Utrecht. The Qu'ran is currently part of the collection at the Utrecht University Library. You can view the full digitized version here. |
