Patta x The Black Archives

In 2019 Patta and The Black Archives joined forces, making hidden stories and history around Hip Hop and street culture visible. Patta was born out of a passion for Hip Hop, sneakers and street culture. The Black Archives is a unique historical archive for inspiring conversations, activities and literature from Black and other perspectives that are often overlooked elsewhere, and was founded on passion for black history, culture and literature. Hip Hop is a culture created by Afro-American, Afro-Caribbean and Latin American youth in 1970s New York that is now being embraced by billions of people worldwide. Hip Hop, street culture, black literature and history are inextricably linked. Because we care about Eternal Education we shared one book from The Black Archives on black history, culture and literature every month. In addition we organized several events in relation to the theme 'Books We Share That Make Us Care'. During the #BlackLivesMatter uprising Patta teamed up with several other black owned brands such as Daily Paper, TNO, Hosselaer, SMIB and Filling Pieces for the 'There Is Strength In Unity' campaign.

Patta produced a short video about The Black Archives en ur views on histories of Pan-Africanism, check it out here:

PATTA X REEBOK CLUB C 85 with RBG / Pan-African flag

Patta has worked with Reebok on a custom Club C 85. Made exclusively for Patta, this classic 80s court silhouette features a full-grain leather upper, with a perforated toe panel and foam tongue for comfort and breathability. The traditional Reebok woven label with the Union Jack was replaced by Patta branding and the Pan-African flag. The Red, Black & Green flag was conceived by Marcus Garvey exactly 100 years ago and stands for Pan- African unity.

Part of the proceeds from this shoe will always be donated to The Black Archives from Amsterdam, London’s Sistah Space & The Good Neighborhood Collective in Milan, all local organisations for communities of the African Diaspora.

In Unity There Is Strength Tee #BlackLivesMatterNL

In light of ongoing anti-racist activations, seven Black-owned Netherlands fashion brands have united for a special Black Lives Matter T-shirt intended to benefit several local progressive movements. Daily Paper, Patta, Filling Pieces, Olaf Hussein, Smib, The New Originals and Hosselaer have utilized artist Farida Sedoc’s No Justice No Peace as the centerpiece of a special made-to-order charity T-shirt.

Dubbed “In Unity, There Is Strength,” the collaborative design features Sedoc’s art on the front, borrowed from the posters that she created for the Stedelijk Museum in dialogue with the Black Lives Matter demonstrations. On the rear, Each fashion label’s logo is realized beneath the bold-face slogan that informs the shirt’s title. All of the proceeds from the tee were donated to Kick Out Zwarte Piet, The Black Archives, and Black Queer & Trans Resistance NL, Dutch organizations that combat and organize protests against injustice (e.g. racism, white supremacy, transphobia).
